Open data

Two small, factual datasets behind the film and camera databases on this site, released as open data so they can be reused, checked and cited.

What is available

DatasetRowsFormatsSchema
Film stocks68CSV · JSONcolumns
Cameras60CSV · JSONcolumns

Both files are generated from the same source data as the database pages, so they never go stale. A stable mirror lives on GitHub: Feirobot/film-photography-datasets.

Film stocks schema

Cameras schema

Same shape: id, brand, name, type, mount, year, format, shutter, metering, exposure, battery, weight, best_for, price_tier, character, url.

Accuracy and provenance

Specifications are compiled from manufacturer data sheets and long-standing community references. Character and best-for notes are editorial judgement. Speed, grain and latitude groupings are practical categories, not laboratory guarantees. Prices are relative tiers, not quotations. Corrections are welcome — get in touch with a source and we will fix it.

Using the data

If you want the same tables in a nicer form, the film stock database and camera database are the interactive versions. If you need a custom extraction, a merge with another dataset, or a dataset of your own compiled and documented, that is work we take on.
